Goal
: To help students understand how the human rights embodied in the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights can be applied to real-life situations.

Objectives:

  • Students learn the broad range of rights guaranteed by the UDHR.
  • Students come to recognize that human rights violations exist within their own communities as well as in other countries. 
  • Students are able to correlate hypothetical situation descriptions to specific articles in the UDHR. 

Essential Question: How do the human rights in the UDHR correspond to real-life situations?

Time: 60-90 minutes

Age Level: 6th grade - Adult
