Our Human Rights Education Services

         

The Advocates for Human Rights offers many different educational opportunities.  We host several ongoing events, including lecture series, film series, and annual conferences.  In addition, individuals and organizations can request presentations from The Advocates. 

Annual Educational Events

  • Conferences: The Advocates hosts annual national conferences, beginning in March with International Women's Day, followed by the Immigration and Asylum Conference in the spring, Human Rights Law & Policy in the summer and a Human Rights Day celebration in December.
  • Lecture Series: The Advocates for Human Rights hosts several ongoing lunch lecture series on human rights, the death penalty, and women's rights, held at downtown law firms. 
  • Film Series: The Advocates for Human Rights, in partnership with area libraries, presents several film series on human rights. 
  • State Fair: Every year, The Advocates for Human Rights presents an educational exhibit at the Minnesota State Fair featuring information on current issues in human rights. 

Educational Presentations

  • Speakers Bureau:  The Advocates for Human Rights conducts presentations and CLEs on topics such as general human rights, women's human rights, immigration, human rights in the classroom, and transitional justice.
  • Trainings:  The Advocates for Human Rights designs and conducts training on specific human rights topics to provide participants with tools that enable them to be more effective in their work.
  • Artistic Presentations:  The Advocates for Human Rights educates through innovative programs that engage audiences in human rights issues using the arts.
