Jessica Eby

As the Protection Officer for Church World Service’s Immigration & Refugee Program (CWS/IRP), Jessica Eby serves as a resource on humanitarian and refugee protection and conducts advocacy with the U.S. government and the U.N. on forced displacement, refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs). Church World Service, a 63-year-old faith-based relief, development, and refugee assistance organization, resettles refugees in the U.S. and provides assistance to vulnerable communities and forcibly displaced persons around the world, including through its Durable Solutions for Displaced Persons (DSDP) programs in Thailand, Chile, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and South Africa. Before joining CWS, Eby was in the Protection Unit of the Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Quito, Ecuador, where she provided protection and assistance to Colombian refugees and asylum seekers and reviewed cases for refugee recognition under the UNHCR mandate. Prior to her experience with UNHCR, she worked for the Washington Office on Latin America (WOLA), advocating on U.S. foreign policy, human rights and humanitarian issues in the region. She has also worked with women’s rights organizations in Chile and conducted research on women’s human rights violations in Peru. Eby holds a B.A. in Anthropology and International Relations from Washington University in St. Louis.
