This seminar gives an overview of the history and jurisprudence surrounding the administration of the death penalty in the United States, as well as current issues related to capital punishment. The session will include practical information on representing a client on death row during the appellate process. Participants will also receive a course packet containing information on significant Supreme Court decisions as well as on military commissions and mental retardation, both issues that have influenced legislation relating to the death penalty.
