Background on the annual Human Rights Law & Policy Conference

Since 2002 The Advocates for Human Rights has sponsored an annual day-long CLE conference on important human rights issues ranging from refugee and indigenous people's rights to labor as a human right and the right to education. Co-sponsored by Dorsey & Whitney and held in its Minneapolis office, every year the conference draws legal and other professionals from a variety of disciplines to hear about these issues from local, national and international experts.

The 2008 Human Rights Law & Policy Conference

Celebrating a quarter century of protecting and promoting human rights around the world, The Advocates for Human Rights will host the seventh annual human rights law and policy conference, "Human Rights and the United States: the Past, Present and Future of Dignity and Justice for All." The conference will  take a retrospective look at the human rights movement that has brought us into the 21st century and what the future holds for human rights in the United States and around the world. The conference's keynote speaker, William F. Schulz, the former Executive Director of Amnesty International USA and a Senior Fellow in human rights policy at the Center for American Progress, will discuss "Restoring America's Credibility: The Future of Human Rights."
