This session will provide training on the international human rights and humanitarian law that provides a framework for human rights monitoring, as well as the specific international standards that apply to fair trials, detention, elections, free assembly and freedom of expression. It also includes practical how-to advice for people and organizations interested in keeping an eye on human rights around the world and explains the roles of government and non-governmental organizations in the monitoring process.
