Filmed in the USA, Argentina and Chile in late 2006, A Promise to the Dead: The Exile Journey of Ariel Dorfman, traces this playwright’s life of exile back to Argentina and Chile, where he coincides with the death of former Chilean dictator, Augusto Pinochet. According to film critic Stephen Holden of the New York Times, the film is “A life changing experience…A profile in courage colored with the anxiety of a human rights activist faced with painful moral choices.”
